Mosher in Seattle

Well Mosher has come to the final day of his trip and will be back in Toronto this evening. Here a few photos of him in Seattle tearing it up. All photos were poached from Zlog . Thanks Zach.

(Edit: I just realized this was shot at the island in SF but the others appear to be Seattle)

Mosher in Portland

Tom Mosher recently spent the day in Portland (I believe it was yesterday) hanging with a crew and working on some new moves. Here are a few photos snapped by Maxwell M. Manilow.

Clearing Out the Archieves

Well I guess today is all about posting old stuff that never made it on the blog. This is a short video clip that never really saw the light of day. It was shot by our good friend Adam Keller in one afternoon at Barspins and Baby Jesus in Vancouver and is basically just a montage of us all falling down or simply just looking like we can't ride our bikes properly. The final trick though is worth noting, Ten Ten Temmyo with a no handed wheelie to two and half barspins by Tom Briggs while going in the opposite direction.

I would just like to point out that this was not a serious trailer and was basically us just goofing around. There will be no video and yes Adam did spell "coming" wrong along with getting the title wrong (it should be Barspins and Baby Jesus and not Baby Jesus and Barspins). Ahh how I long for the old days.

Gerry Gauthier

Speaking of old photos here are a couple Kyle Johnson pictures of the extremely elusive Gerry Gautier. Most of you probably never heard of Gerry but that's probably the way he would want it. Gerry was one of the best riders I've ever seen but was perpetually camera weary. There are only a few pictures of him floating around on the net and this one piece of video footage. Anyone that ever got to ride with this kid knows how good he was. He is the only person I know of to ever go over vert on a fixed gear in a fullpipe. I was just hoping someone out there might know where he is these days? Me and him used to meet up at the Jesus Bank in Vancouver most summer nights and ride for hours but since I moved east and he moved to Victoria we've sort of lost touch, so if anyone knows of Gerry's where abouts or if Gerry reads this blog, let me know. Also if there are any other Gerry Gauthier photos or videos out there please send them to me at skitchclothing@gmail.com.

Gerry appears at 0:45, 1:14 and numerous background appearances

Team News

Well, it looks like Mosher is finally wrapping up his trip. From what I've heard he'll be in Seattle this evening taking part in Future Tense again. From the sounds of it the trip has been awesome and I can't wait to see the photos and video footage that he's compiled. As soon as I get a hold of some of these things I'll be sure to post them up here.

In other news Duncan Lewis is making the trek over from Montreal to Toronto to ride for the weekend. There have been talks of a possible web edit (no promises) coming out of this which would include both Duncan and myself (Tom Briggs). If the web edit doesn't happen, you can be sure that you'll see some photos of what went down.

I also recently became aware that these photos by Tobias Romaniuk of Duncan Lewis had never been posted here on the Skitch blog. These were shot back in the summer of 2007 and were originally posted on Trackosaurus Rex. I just thought I should share, in case any of you missed them the first time around.

Love For Vallie Hubs

Here at Skitch we love seeing new innovative products coming on the market for fixed gear riding, and when their made by another Vancouver local, we get doubly excited. Lyle who recently relocated to New York City has been creating some new fixed hubs under the name Vallie Components. I for one would love to give these things a shot but as of right now our team member, Duncan Lewis will be testing them and trying his hardest to see if he can break them. I personally don't see that happening! If you don't believe me then check out the specs.

* ISO disc cog mounting eliminates stripped lock ring threads.
* Dual sided for multiple ratios
* Thick symmetric flanges for a strong dishless build
* Massive 15mm hollow female axle can take any abuse you can throw at it.
* Oversize 6902 bearings to keep you rolling smoothly.
* Stainless Hardware to last through those salty winters
* Beefy M10 x 1.00 axle bolts
* Slide on bearing collars
* Accepts 44mm ISO disc cogs
* 120mm spacing
* Approx 450 grams
Awesome!

Recently our good friend Morgan from Projekt-B put together a wheel with the new hubs down at Mighty Riders in Vancouver. Here are some pictures of the build.

Mosher + Aloha Fixed

Some of you may or may not know that Tom Mosher has been on amazing trip over the past month or so. He's been all over the west coast riding with some amazing riders and he's recently been spending a lot of time in Hawaii hanging with the Aloha Fixed crew. We here at Skitch are huge fans of their site and their photos are always top notch. These guys really have an amazing scene going there in paradise. Well a bunch of pictures went up on their site today of Mosher on his trip and I thought I would share but definitely head past www.alohafixed.com and take a look at some of the other stuff they have posted.

Torey

Torey just send over this picture of himself doing a vertical wall tap. Keep checking back because we have some big news coming in the next little while about what the team will be up to this summer. Photo by Chicken Kid in NYC.

XXXtreme Booty Call Alley Cat

Well it's that time of year again (it's a scorching 0 Degrees Celsius today) and races are starting to happen again. This weekend was Toronto's XXXtreme Booty Call Alley Cat, presented by Toby Spunt and Maija Eliashevsky. Toby has been throwing the best races here in Toronto for a while and this was no exception. It was freezing out but at least it wasn't snowing and everyone seemed to have a great time. The after party was at Bombshelter (our local graffiti supply store) and a huge thank you goes to Zion and Jedi for hosting the festivities. Also I would like to thank Justin Morris and Christopher Kaiser for the photos.

Witch Hunt Clothing

As a fan of all things creative, I have to give a shout out to our good friend and team rider Duncan Lewis who has started up his own cycling specific clothing line called Witch Hunt Clothing. Witch Hunt produces "cycling specific clothing with an emphasis on both function and fashion. As cyclist we test, destroy rebuild and refine all our products before we hand make them and ultimately unleash them on you. Hand made in Montreal with ethics, quality and community." The line consists of outerwear thus far and it looks awesome. Go check out their website and get some for yourself at www.witchhuntclothing.com.
